BrisDoc was established as a co-operative in 2001 by a group of Bristol GPs and has grown in scale to serve the local region. BrisDoc now provides an out-of-hours service to a population of 1million, covering inner city, urban and rural areas in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. Activities have been expanded to provide 24/7 healthcare, including GP services working in acute hospital settings; daytime GP and Nurse walk in services; GP Practices; Homeless Healthcare and a 24 hour Professional Line service.
During 2017, BrisDoc the majority services have been reviewed by CQC and all rated as "good" with "outstanding" features, and one service rated as "outstanding". This reflects a commitment to quality embedded within BrisDoc over many years and very much with the encouragement and support of Urgent Health UK and all its members.
BrisDoc is the preferred bidder to provide an Integrated Urgent Care Service for the area, with effect from April 2019 and has launched a Community Investment Fund to support local voluntary organisations involved with healthcare. Several awards have been achieved for high quality services, including NHS Alliance Acorn Award for clinical governance and for their GPSU service which helps to manage and reduce medical hospital admissions.
