Peter joined Gwent OOH in 2004, and has been clinical lead or clinical director since 2006. In an earlier life he was a GP for 18 years in Pontypool, South Wales and a hospital practitioner in a rehab stroke unit for 16yrs. He served on the LMC, Welsh Medical Committee and chaired a Local Health Group, the predecessor of Local Health Boards in Wales, Gwent DMC, Gwent Fundholding Consortium and more recently All Wales OOH Forum. He is also a lead GP rep on the Welsh 111 national work stream group responsible for advising and designing a model for 111 in Wales.
Peter is passionate about developing high quality, dignified care in the community, especially for those who become acutely unwell. With all the pressure on secondary care his role allows him to ensure that the needs of children, the mentally ill and those with palliative care requirements are not forgotten in these times of austerity and target driven medicine.
